HISTORY: On August 21, 1985 at Madison Square Garden in New York WBC Super Lightweight Champion Billy Costello defended his title against "Lightning" Lonnie Smith. Smith stopped Costello in the 8th round to win the title. In the co-feature junior middleweight Wilfred Benitez survived an early knockdown to win a unanimous ten round decision over Kevin Moley.
