HISTORY: James J. Braddock, The Cinderella Man, was born on February 11, 1909 in Omaha, Nebraska. He defeated Max Baer at Long Island City, NY on June 13, 1935 to win the World Heavyweight Title. He was an extreme underdog and earned his nickname with the win. He lost the title to Joe Louis in 1937. His last fight was on January 21, 1938, a win over Tommy Farr. His final record was 46-24-4 and included fights with Art Lasky, John Henry Lewis, Maxie Rosenbloom, Pet Latzo and Tommy Loughran. Offered here is a signed photograph of Jimmy Braddock. Also signed by Don Fowler who was involved with the Braddock Restaurant in New York which opened in April, 1938. Authenticated by PSA/DNA.
FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original studio photograph of Braddock in full fight pose. Boldly signed in fountain pen, "To West Enders are always welcome Good Luck Jimmy Braddock 6/6/38." Also signed by Don Fowler. Both signed two months after Braddock's restaurant opened in New York and their inscriptions are references to the restaurant. Mild creasing.
