Jimmy Britt (October 5, 1879, in San Francisco, California – January 21, 1940) was a boxer from 1902 to 1909. He fought Joe Gans twice for the World lightweight title but lost both bouts. After retiring from boxing in 1909, Britt toured the United States as a vaudeville performer, then later worked as a WPA superintendent. Offered here is an original, antique photograph of Jimmy Britt taken in 1913when he was performing at the Empress Theatre.
This is an original, antique photograph. Has the photographer stamp of Gould & Marsdek of New York in lower left corner. Date stamped June 15, 1913 on the reverse. Pin holes at top and bottom. Small spot stain in lower right corner. No creases or tears. Bold, clear image of Britt in period dress. Minor edge and corner wear. 7 3/4" x 9 3/4."
