Georges Carpentier is arguably the greatest World Champion produced by France in that country's history. Carpentier became World Light Heavyweight Champion and although failing in an attempt to become World Heavyweight Champion at the hands of Jack Dempsey he was part of boxing's first million dollar gate in that bout.
