Clarence "Red" Burman was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 18, 1915. He began his professional boxing career with a loss to Mickey Neilson on April 28, 1930. Burman fought many important fighters in his career including Tami Mauriello, Melio Bettina, Steve Dudas, Gus Dorazio, Tommy Farr, and Corn Griffin. In 1941 he fought Joe Louis for the heavyweight title, but was stopped by Louis in the 5th round. He retired after losing to "Big Boy" Brown on October 26, 1942. His final record was 78-22-2. Burman passed away in 1996. Presented here is a scarce signed photograph of Red Burman.
