James J. Corbett was born on September 1, 1866 in San Francisco, California. He won the World Heavyweight Title from John L. Sullivan on September 7, 1892. He held the title until 1897 when he lost it to Robert Fitzsimmons in Carson City. He retired after losing to Jim Jeffries on August 14, 1903 with a final record of 11-4-2 with 2 no contests and 7 KO's. In addition to Sullivan, Fitzsimmons and Jeffries. Corbett had memorable fights with Peter Jackson and Charley Mitchell. Offered here is a very rare complete sheet music entitled Champion Of The World March dedicated to James J. Corbett. The copyright is 1894 by Paul Camp.
This original sheet music pictures Corbett on the cover in period dress. Issued when Corbett was heavyweight champion. 6 pages complete. Small hole on cover in right corner outside of the image. Some separation at binding which is still intact, Edge and corner wear and a few small border tears. Some tape residue on rear borders from mounting. 10 1/2" x 14."
