DEFOREST, JIMMY ORIGINAL ARTWORK (1925)

HISTORY: Jimmy DeForest was an early 20th Century trainer of such future legendary boxers as Stanley Ketchel and Jack Dempsey. He later became a boxing matchmaker at the Polo Grounds. DeForest also trained: James J. Jeffries, Joe Gans, George Dixon, Joe Walcott, Kid McCoy, Tommy Ryan, Philadelphia Pal Moore, Jack Sharkey and Luis Angel Firpo. He also promoted the Harry Greb vs. Mickey Walker bout. Offered here is original artwork of Jimmy DeForest done in 1925 by Hovic Pinamare. This is a charcoal etching of DeForest on a pair of boxing gloves.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original charcoal etching dated by the artist Dec. 15/25 and signed in lower left corner. Bold color and clear image. Not creased or torn. Clean with no staining. Irregularly shaped to 10" x 19" and framed to 16 1/2" x 23 3/4."
