DEMPSEY, JACK LARGE FORMAT SIGNED PHOTO

HISTORY: Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO's. Presented here is an original, oversized Apeda Studio photograph of Jack Dempsey which he has signed and inscribed to trainer Gus Wilson.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This magnificent photograph pictures Jack Dempsey, as Champion, in full pose wearing fight togs. The photo is stamped by the famous New York studio Apeda and dates to 1920. There is one tear in the lower right edge with small paper loss which has been easily matted over. No creases. Fantastic sharp image of a very young Jack Dempsey. It is signed in green ink, "To My Friend Gus Wilson a great Trainer Best Wishes Jack Dempsey." Oversized to 10" x 13." One of the finest signed photographs of Jack Dempsey we have handled.
