Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. In his career Dempsey fought and defeated Georges Carpentier, Luis Firpo, Tommy Gibbons and Jack Sharkey. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO's. Offered here is an original Police Gazette Gallery Of Champions Supplement of Jack Dempsey which he has boldly signed in ink. From the collection of former boxer Vince Handley who has dated the signature in lower right corner, 4/16/62.

Boldly signed in ink, "Greetings Jack Dempsey." Handley added the date this was signed at lower right, 4/16/62. Not creased or torn. Minor surface wear. Minor edge and corner wear. 10 1/4" x 13 1/4."
