Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO's. Presented here is an original antique wirephoto of Jack Dempsey. He is pictured with William Carey, the Vice President of Madison Square Garden Corporation as they look over plans for the stands to be built for the fight with Stribling. It is an International Newsreel photo.
This original antique wirephoto of Jack Dempsey is 6" x 8." There is light wear in the upper right corner and a crease in the upper left corner. Otherwise it is clean with no rips or tears.
