Francois Descamps was a boxing trainer and manager in the late 19th, early 20th century. Descamps handled the career of the great French light heavyweight Georges Carpentier and was with him when he challenged Jack Dempsey in 1921 for the heavyweight title in boxing's first million dollar gate. Descamps handled a boxing instruction school in Lens, France and first met Carpentier when he was 12 years old. The two remained together through his acquisition of European titles and the light heavyweight championship of the world. Offered here is a rare, original, first generation studio portrait of Francois descamps which he has boldly signed and inscribed and dated 1925.
