Luis Firpo was born on October 11, 1894 in Junin, Buenos Aires, Argentina. He won the South American Heavyweight Title on April 30, 1920 from Dave Mills. On September 14, 1923 he fought Jack Dempsey for the World Heavyweight Title but was knocked out in the 2nd round. He retired after losing to Arturo Godoy on June 11, 1936 with a final record of 32-6 with 26 KO's. Presented here is an antique wirephoto of Luis Firpo.
This antique photo of Luis Firpo is 6 1/2" x 8 1/2." There are small creases in the corners and along the edges. There are tack holes in the corners and in the edges and there is a small rip along the left edge. There are marks on the photo from where it was used in print and there is some light soiling along the top edge.
