HISTORY: Jim Corbett fought Bob Fitzsimmons on March 17, 1897 in Carson City, Nevada. Fitzsimmons knocked Corbett out in the 14th round to win the Heavyweight Championship of the World. Presented here is an extremely rare, original, souvenir pin issued for this fight in 1897.
FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, metallic, illustrated, two sided souvenir pin. Pin firmly attached to back. Corbett is pictured on one side with Fitzsimmons pictured on the reverse. Both are celluloid as is the fight announcement piece at the top. Separated by a small cloth flag. Clean. The images are clean and bold. Completely intact. 2 1/2" x 5." The fighter celluloid is 1 3/4" in diameter. Extremely rare and quite possibly unique. This is the first we have seen or offered.
