Heavyweight champion James J. Corbett defended his title against Robert Fitzsimmons on March 17, 1897 in Carson City, Nevada. Fitzsimmons knocked Corbett out in the 14th round with a solar plexus punch to win the Heavyweight Championship of the World. Presented here is an original souvenir pin and ribbons for this event.
This is an original gold color, metallic pin which pictures the fighters, and includes the date of the fight and name of the venue. Has two Robert Fitzsimmons ribbons which are detached. Pin on back is present, but loose. Some fraying of ribbons. Pin in fine condition with no pitting or tarnishing. Irregularly sized to 1 3/4" x 7."
