On August 5, 1961 at Ogden Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah world middleweight champion Gene Fullmer defended his title against hard punching Florentino Fernandez. Fullmer prevailed winning a close 15 round split decision. Fullmer fractured his elbow during the fight. Offered here is an original wire photo which depicts first round action.
