On May 31, 1990 at the War Memorial in Rochester, New York future world champion Bernard Hopkins, fighting in his 5th professional fight, took on Jouvin Mercado in an undercard event. Hopkins Stopped Mercado in the 2nd round. In the featured bouts heavyweight Ray Mercer stopped Lionel Washington in the 4th round and super lightweight Charles "The Natural" Murray stopped Robert Guy in the in the 7th round.
