HISTORY: James J. Jeffries was born on April 15, 1875 in Carroll, Ohio. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 9, 1899 from Bob Fitzsimmons. He retired after losing to Jack Johnson on July 4, 1910, his only loss, with a final record of 18-1-2 with 15 KO's. Jeffries was one of the most beloved heavyweight champions in the history of the sport. Offered here is the original sheet music for Jim-A-Da-Jeff with words and music by Dorothy Forrester which was published in 1909 to salute James Jeffries as he prepared to fight Jack Johnson.
