Jack Johnson, the first African-American to win the World Heavyweight Title accomplished that feat defeating Tommy Burns in Australia on December 26, 1908. Later defeated Stanley Ketchel and former champion James Jeffries. Offered here is an original promotional poster of Jack Johnson which was made after his October, 1909 fight with Stanley Ketchel, but before his July 4, 1910 fight with James Jeffries. Likely put out to promote the Johnson-Jeffries fight.
This is an original, cardboard, promotional poster which pictures Jack Johnson in full fight pose as he looked in 1909-1910. The poster includes his full professional boxing record which is printed at lower left. Mounted on archival board. Not creased or torn. Has some edge and corner wear. There is some restoration at the edges and at the boxing record. 16" x 22." An exceedingly rare and likely unique poster of Jack Johnson from his days as world heavyweight champion and at the height of his career.
