HISTORY: Benny Leonard was born on April 7, 1896 in New York City, New York. He won the World Lightweight Title on May 28, 1917 from Freddie Welsh. He retired after losing to Jimmy McLarnin on October 7, 1932 with a final record of 180-21-6 with 6 no decisions and 69 KO's. Presented here is a signed letter.

FULL DESCRIPTION: Benny Leonard has boldly signed this 8 1/2" x 11" letter in blue ink. The letter was dated January 14, 1925 and was addressed to a sporting editor. In the letter, Leonard announced his retirement. There are 5 horizontal creases where the letter was folded and an additional crease in the lower right hand side. There is some light soiling in the lower left corner and along the left edge. No rips or tears. Clean signature.
