On June 19, 1946, World Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis fought tough Billy Conn for the second time in New York. Louis had a very difficult time with Conn in their first meeting, but not this time as he stopped him in 8 rounds. In addition to being an important fight, this event had the added significance of being the first World Heavyweight Championship broadcast on that new medium of television. Offered here is an original, first generation, large format photograph of Joe Louis pummeling Billy Conn into submission near the end of the fight.
