HISTORY: On December 5, 1947 at Madison Square Garden in New York heavyweight champion Joe Louis defended his title against tough challenger Jersey Joe Walcott. Louis won a very close and highly controversial 15 round split decision. Louis was down in 1st and 4th rounds and struggled throughout.
