Rocky Marciano was born on September 1, 1923 in Brockton, Mass. On September 23, 1952 he won the World Heavyweight Title from Jersey Joe Walcott. He retired as champion on April 27, 1956 with a final record of 49-0 with 43 KO's. Rocky Marciano died tragically on August 31, 1969 in an airplane crash. Presented here is a rare appearance poster for Rocky Marciano at Stilwell Fieldhouse on February 7, 1969 in Okinawa. This would prove to be one of the last appearances by this great champion.
This is a paper poster which pictures Rocky Marciano at the center. The poster includes his record and a brief biography and the text is in both English and Japanese. The poster has been mounted by staples on the border, which could be easily removed. There is a crease along the bottom. There is a stain in the lower left corner. Bold color and lettering. 14" x 19 1/4." The only example of this poster we have seen.
