On September 17, 1934 at the Madison Square Garden Bowl in Long Island City, New York world welterweight champion Barney Ross defended his title against Jimmy McLarnin. Ross had defeated McLarnin 4 months earlier in a very close fight. This time McLarnin reversed fortunes winning a 15 round split decision and the title. Offered here is an original wire photo of Jimmy McLarnin taken at his training camp in Orangeburg, New Jersey on August 23, 1934 as he prepared for his second fight with Barney Ross.
