Sam McVea was born on May 17, 1884 in Texas. He began his career on April 12, 1902 with a knockout win over George Sullivan. He fought as a heavyweight during the early 1900's. During his career he fought Sam Langford, Harry Wills, Arthur Pelkey and Joe Jeannette among others. His last fight was a draw with Jeff Clark on August 2, 1921 finishing his career with a record of 65-16-12. McVea died on December 23, 1921 at the age of 37. Offered here is a rare French real photo postcard of Sam McVea dating to circa 1910. Authenticated by SGC as EX/NM 6.
