HISTORY: On September 13, 1991 at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California IBF world superweight champion Tony Lopez defended his title against Brian Mitchell. These two had fought a draw earlier in the year, but in the fight Mitchell prevailed winninga 12 round unanimous decision. Lopez lost his title on the scale when he came in overweight (IBF rules). The title was considered vacant (IBF rules). The title was on the line for Mitchell only.
