HISTORY: Carlos Monzon was born on August 7, 1942 in Santa Fe, Argentina. He won the Argentine Middleweight Title from Jorge Fernandez on September 3, 1966. On June 10, 1967 he won the South American Middleweight Title also from Jorge Fernandez. He won the World Middleweight Title from Nino Benvenuti on November 7, 1970 and retired as champion on August 29, 1977. His final record was 89-3-8 with 61 KO's and 1 no contest. Monzon died in 1995 when the car he was driving went out of control and landed in a ditch. Alexis Arguello was born on April 19, 1952 in Managua, Nicaragua. He won the WBA Featherweight Title on November 23, 1974 in a bout with Ruben Olivares. On January 28, 1978 he won the WBC Super Featherweight Title from Alfredo Escalera. He retired after a February 9, 1986 bout with Bill Costello with a final record of 80-6 with 65 KO's.
