Archie Moore was born on December 13, 1913 in Benoit, Mississippi. He won the World Light Heavyweight Title on December 17. 1952 from Joey Maxim. He fought on several occasions for the World Heavyweight Title but was never successful. He retired after an exhibition match with Nap Mitchell on August 27, 1965 with a final record of 183-22-9 with 129 KO's and 1 no contest. Presented here is a signed letter.
Archie Moore addressed this 8 1/2" x 11" to Jack Urch seeking advisement on obtaining a manager's license for Jak Kearns. The response is also included. The letter was written on Archie Moore's Salt Mine Training Camp letterhead. There are 3 horizontal creases where the letter was folded. The bottom corners have also been creased. There are 2 hole punches at the top and holes from a staple in the upper left hand corner. No rips or tears.
