HISTORY: Packey O'Gatty was born on June 4, 1901 in Cannitello, Italy. He was a bantamweight contender in the 1910's and 1920's. During his career he fought Jack Dempsey, Jimmy McLarnin, and Jack Sharkey. He retired after an exhibition match with Jimmy McLarnin on July 27, 1928. Presented here is an original, first generation photograph of Packey O'Gatty aboard the S.S.Leviathan in Southampton, England in July, 1929 posing with Sir Thomas Lipton and Justice Harry E.Lewis. O'Gatty has boldly signed and inscribed the photograph.
