Regular price $125.00
On June 25, 1952 at Yankee Stadium in New York light heavyweight champion Joey Maxim defended his title against Sugar Ray Robinson. It was an extremely hot and humid night. Referee Goldstein was overcome by the 104 degree heat and had to be replaced by Ray Miller in Round 10. Robinson retired on his stool after Round 13, suffering from heat prostration. Robinson may have won if he could have overcome the heat, but he could not. Offered here is an original wire photo showing the two fighters wearing championship crowns (one middleweight, one light heavyweight) as they meet before the fight.
This is an original wire photo with newspaper caption on the reverse. Minor creases in left corners. Clear, bold image. Clean front and back. 7" x 9."
