ROBINSON, SUGAR RAY-SAMMY ANGOTT ORIGINAL WIRE PHOTO (1942)

On July 31, 1942 at Madison Square Garden in New York lightweights Sammy Angott and Sugar Ray Robinson met in the main event. Robinson won a unanimous ten round decision. Robinson dropped Angott for a 5-count in round eight, but Sammy pulled Ray down when he fell, both of them landing on the ring apron.
