Welterweight Champion Sugar Ray Robinson fought Steve Belloise in a non title affair on August 24, 1949 in New York City at Yankee Stadium. Robinson knocked Belloise down in the 7th round and was awarded a victory by technical knockout when Belloise could not answer the bell to start the eighth round.
