Regular price $1,000.00
On May 19, 1941 World Featherweight Champion Petey Scalzo defended his title against tough Phil Zwick at the Auditorium in Milwaukee. It was Milwaukee's first 15 round championship fight and it was not without controversy. At the end of 15 rounds it was originally announced as a split decision for Scalzo. It was learned afterwards that referee Barney Ross had changed his original score of 75-75 to 76-74 for Scalzo. Fred Saddy of the Wisconsin Boxing Commission having learned of Ross's inappropriate action reversed the decision and the fight was ruled a draw. Presented here is a rare on site poster from this event.
This poster is paper picturing both fighters. It includes the union label stamp. It measures 22" x 28." The color is still bold and the images are sharp. It has the original folds. There are some seam separations at the borders and a tear at the bottom, all with no paper loss. A small hole above Zwick's head. Overall a fine example of a very scarce poster.
