HISTORY: Mannie Seamon, a native of New York, began his training career at the age of 15, as an apprentice. He received his license from New York State five years later, and then spent eight years training Leonard, then lightweight champion. In 1937, he was appointed assistant to Jack Blackburn, who was Joe Louis's trainer. When Blackburn died in 1942, the heavyweight champion selected Mannie Seamon to replace him, and Seamon remained in that post until 1951. He passed away in 1983. 

Offered here is an original passport visa application for the Philippines made by and signed by Mannie Seamon. Dated December 14, 1951 and granted by the Philippines. Used by Mannie Seamon when Joe Louis was appearing in the Philippines for an exhibition bout.
