Maurice Strickland (3/15/1913-12/31/1994) was a heavyweight contender in the 1930's and early 1940's. Born in Wellington, New Zealand Strickland fought his first professional fight on February 21, 1933, a win over Mick Lee. In his career Strickland won the New Zealand Heavyweight Title and fought notable fighters, Johnny Paycheck, Lee Savold, Arturo Godoy, Bob Pastor and Larry Gains. Strickland retired after a loss to Don Mullet on December 26, 1942 with a final record of 40-13-2. Offered here is an original real photo postcard of Maurice Strickland which he has boldly signed.
