HISTORY: On May 25, 1974 at the Stade Louis II in Monte Carlo middleweights Bennie Briscoe and Rodrigo Valdez battled for the vacant WBC Middleweight Title. Valdez won the fight and title by TKO in round 7. A badly beaten Briscoe was knocked down in the seventh, prompting the immediate stoppage This was a rematch of an NABF middleweight title bout held on September 1, 1973 in New Caledonia, won by Valdez by 12 round decision. On the undercard former champion Emile Griffith won a ten round decision over Renato Garcia. Offered here is and original, on site poster for this event.
