Tommy Burns was born on June 17, 1881 in Chesley, Ontario, Canada. He defeated Marvin Hart on February 23, 1906 to win the World Heavyweight Title. He eventually lost the title to Jack Johnson on December 26, 1908. He retired after losing to Joe Beckett on July 16, 1920 with a final record of 46-5-9 with 37 KO's. Offered here is an antique, large format photograph of Tommy Burns dated January, 1908 on the reverse when Burns was heavyweight champion.
This photograph is mounted on board. The board has glue stains and chipping at the edges. The photo is clear with a sharp image. Minor edge chips and one small hole with no paper loss in upper right corner. Not creased. Photo is 9 5/8" x 11 1/4" on mount of 13 5/8" x 13 1/2."
