CARPENTIER, GEORGES ORIGINAL WIRE PHOTO (1921-TRAINING)

Georges Carpentier (January 12, 1894 – October 28, 1975) was a French boxer. He fought mainly as a light heavyweight and heavyweight in a career lasting from 1908-26. Nicknamed the "Orchid Man", he stood 5 ft 11½ in (1.82 m) but his fighting weight ranged from 125 to 175 lb (57 to 79 kg). Carpentier was known for his speed, his excellent boxing skills and his extremely hard punch. He fought many of the top fighters of the era including Battling Siki, Tommy Gibbons and Jack Dempsey. Presented here is a antique wire photo of Carpentier in training in 1921.
This photo measures 6 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches.The photo has damage in the lower left corner.There are tack holes in each corner.There is minor soiling.The edges show some wrinkling.The back has the attached wire info which is torn.The back also has a stamp and writing in pencil.The image is vivid.
