Jack McAuliffe, "The Napolean Of The Prize Ring," was born in Cork, Ireland on March 24, 1866. He fought as a lightweight and began his career with a win over Joe Milletechia on July 25, 1885. On October 29, 1886 he stopped Billy Frazier in the 21st round to claim the world lightweight title. In his career he fought notable lightweights including Owen Ziegler, Billy Myer, Tommy Ryan, Young Griffo and Jem Carney. He retired after fighting a draw with Ryan on September 30, 1897 with a final record of 29-0-7. McAuliffe passed away in 1937. Offered here is a scarce antique large format photograph of Jack McAuliffe as he looked as world lightweight champion wearing his championship belt..
