SHARKEY, JACK WIRE PHOTO (1926)

Jack Sharkey was born on October, 26, 1902 in Binghamton, New York. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 21, 1932 from Max Schmeling. He retired after losing to Joe Louis on August 18, 1936 with a final record of 38-14-3 with 14 KO's. Tom Sharkey was born on November 26, 1873. During his career he fought Jim Corbett, Bob Fitzsimmons and Jim Jeffries among others. He fought Jim Jeffries for the heavyweight title in 1899 but lost the decision after 25 rounds. Presented here is an original antique wirephoto of Sharkey and his family in 1926.
