Phil Terranova (b. September 4, 1919, d. March 16, 2000) was the former NBA world boxing featherweight champion. Terranova won the crown when he KO'ed Jackie Callura on August 16, 1943, and lost the belt when he was outpointed by Sal Bartolo on March 10, 1944. Terranova retired with a record of 67 wins (29 KOs), 21 losses and 11 draws. He fought all the top featherweights of his era including Willie Pep, Sandy Saddler, Chalky Wright and Harry Jeffra. Although defeated by Pep and Wright, Terranova outpointed hall of famer Saddler over ten rounds in 1949. Presented here is a signed letter from Terranova to noted author Peter Heller.
