On May 31, 1924 at Floyd Fitzsimmons Arena at Michigan City, Indiana light heavyweights Tommy Gibbons and Georges Carpentier met in the main event. Gibbons won a ten round decision. Carpentier was in bad shape at the end and was clearly outboxed.
