Joe Louis fought Jim Braddock on June 22, 1937 at Comiskey Park in Chicago for the Heavyweight Championship. Louis, down early in the fight rallied and knocked Braddock out in the 8th round to win the World Heavyweight Title. Offered here is a photograph which depicts action during this fight which has been signed by both Joe Louis and Jimmy Braddock.
This is a 2nd generation action, sepia tone photograph. Bold, clear image. Clean front and back. Mild creasing at the corners and borders. Signed by Joe Louis in blue ink (noted on back it was signed by Louis at the New York Boxing Writers Dinner on 1/14/1960). Signed in blue ink by Braddock, "To Vince Best Wishes James J. Braddock" (noted on back Braddock signed this at the Boxing Writers Dinner in Newark, N.J. on 1/31/1959). From this collection of Vince Handley. 8" x 10." The only photograph sporting signatures of both fighters we have seen.
