Lou Nova was a heavyweight contender of note during the late 1930's into the 1940's. Born in Los Angeles in 1915 he began boxing as a professional in 1936. He had career victories over Abe Simon, Tommy Farr and twice stopped Max Baer. He challenged Joe Louis for the Heavyweight Title on September 29, 1941, but was stopped in 6 rounds. Presented here is original cartoon art by Pap, dated August 22, 1941, prepared in advance of the Louis-Nova bout in September.
