James J. Corbett was born on September 1, 1866 in San Francisco, California. He won the World Heavyweight Title from John L. Sullivan on September 7, 1892. In his career he fought memorable fights with Peter Jackson, Charlie Mitchell and Robert Fitzsimmons. He retired after losing to Jim Jeffries on August 14, 1903 with a final record of 11-4-2 with 2 no contests and 7 KO's. Offered here is an original cabinet of James J. Corbett in fight pose, taken by Morrison Photographers. Taken in the early 1890's when Corbett was world heavyweight champion.
