DELANEY, JACK-JACK RENAULT OFFICIAL PROGRAM (1927)
JoSportsInc
Regular price $375.00
On October 14, 1927 at Madison Square Garden in New York heavyweights Jack Delaney and Jack Renault battled in the main event. Delaney won a ten round decision. This was the first round of Tex Rickard's heavyweight elimination process to select an opponent for Gene Tunney in 1928. Renault weighed 19 1/2 pounds more than Delaney. He suffered a broken nose in the fourth round from an uppercut when he broke from a clinch. Delaney had been dropped by a right hand in the second round. Renault worked Delaney to the body, but could not overcome Delaney's lead at long-range work. The judgement against Renault was no doubt influenced by the gory mask of his face from the 4th round to the eighth. Offered here is an official program for the vent.
