HISTORY: Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO's.
Offered here is an original letter, signed by Jack Dempsey on Jack Dempsey Restaurant letterhead, dated December 10, 1938 and written to former boxer Fred Saddy.
FULL DESCRIPTION: This is a one page typed letter dated December 10, 1938 on Dempsey Restaurant letterhead which pictures the restaurant in New York. In the letter Dempsey is responding to a request for photographs. Boldly signed in full name in fountain pen ink. Letter has original folds. Small closed tear on left edge with no paper loss. Slight toning from aging. One small spot stain at lower left corner otherwise clean front and back. Minor corner wear. 8 1/2" x 11."
