HISTORY: On June 16, 2000 at Gimnasio Nueva Panama at Juan Diaz, Panama super middleweights Roberto Duran and Pat Lawlor met in the main event. Duran won a unanimous 12 round decision and the NBA Super Middleweight title.
Offered here are the actual fight worn gloves used by Roberto Duran in this fight. Following the fight Duran presented these gloves to the glove manufacturer Grant Phillips who had Duran sign each in blue ink. Grant Phillips has signed a letter attesting to this. The gloves have been matched to still photographs from the fight.
FULL DESCRIPTION: These are white, red and blue leather 10 ounce boxing gloves with the GRANT logo on the backhand. Each glove includes remnants of the original laces. On the back the gloves are signed, "Roberto Duran," in ink which is light but readable, particularly on the right hand glove. Some leather loss at each wrist from removal of the tape used during the fight. Heavy perspiration stains inside each glove. Each glove has a 10 ounce label. Letters from Grant Phillips of Grant, Craig Hamilton of JO Sports, Inc. and a photo of Duran wearing the gloves during the fight.
