HISTORY: On January 19, 2001 at Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, Michigan former world heavyweight champion Chris Byrd fought David Vedder in the Featured bout. Byrd won a unanimous ten round decision. In the final match of the night it was the pride of Flint and former world champion Chris Byrd against David Vedder, from San Jose, Calif. After 10 rounds of back and forth action, in which neither fighter really took command, the fight ended in a decision. Much to the dismay of those boxing fans in attendance, the judges handed down a 98-91, 100-89 and 100-89 decision in favor of Byrd. With the win Byrd improves his record to 32-2 with 18 knockouts.
Offered here are the actual fight worn gloves used by Chris Byrd during this fight which he has signed. The gloves originated from Joseph Santomarco who took possession of them after the fight. Chris Byrd further confirmed these were his fight gloves in an email in which he stated, "Yes, I wore them!"

These are red leather Everlast gloves with their label at each wrist and stamp on each backhand. Boldly signed on each glove in sharpie, "Chris Byrd." The gloves have some surface leather removal at each wrist where the tape was removed. Includes the original black laces. Well worn, but intact. Come with a letter from Joseph Santomarco and a copy of the email transcript to and from Chris Byrd.
