Luis Castillo was born in Mexico on January 1, 1922. He began his professional boxing career on June 29, 1940 with a win over Chato Laredo. He fought for the World bantamweight Title three times against Manuel Ortiz and was stopped each time. He retired after losing to Grillito Aguilar on May 17, 1959. His final record is 98-71-11.
