On July 2, 1921 at Boyles Thirty Acres in Jersey City, New Jersey heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey defended his title against the great French light heavyweight champion Georges Carpentier. Dempsey proved too strong for Carpentier and stopped him in the 4th round in a fight which was the first million dollar gate in boxing history. Offered here is an original antique, first generation photo of James J. Corbett meeting Georges Carpentier at the latter's training camp in Manhasset, New York on May 19, 1921.
